Zuma's Reveng! launch info and Articles on Otaku Gaming

It has been a pretty busy week or two for me.  Some of the games I've been working on have a lot of meaty content to work through and it is definitely going to affect the number of reviews I have trickling out over the next few weeks.  In the meantime, I have had a few other interesting observations and articles I have written.

I'll start with the Ys series, which I have never actually played despite its long history.  It's one of those I keep meaning to try, and haven't gotten to yet, but for fans of the series, there is an announcement that there will be two titles taken to Steam - one already released and another on the way.

There is some more info to be had on Ninja Gaiden 3, and some nice art stills as well.

There's no doubt that Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition are an odd marriage, but one that I am hopeful will work.  I have some screenshots and just a bit of additional info on this unusual title here.

I also did another write-up for Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love.  It's a bit less technical than the reviews I tend to post here, and a bit more about the overall experience, if you're interested.

And while this review is not by me, our friend GAMESANDBIZ wrote up a solid review of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk 2.  I never got to play the first, though I was interested in it, and this title too, is one I am hoping to find time for eventually.

And lastly, I've never hidden the fact that I am a fan of the casual yet addicting games put out by PopCap, and they have announced that Zuma's Revenge! will be hitting Xbox Live this summer, bringing with it a new Boss Rush and Weekly Challenge modes exclusive to the Xbox Live release.  Here is a quick press clipping they have provided today:

PopCap Games, the worldwide leader in casual video games, today announced plans to launch Zuma’s Revenge! for Xbox LIVE ®, Zuma’s Revenge! will deliver exclusive new game modes such as Boss Rush and Weekly Challenge as well as an all-new player progression system via Spirit Animal companions. The digital game will be available globally (in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese) as an Arcade product launching this summer for 800 Microsoft Points.

“With well over 20 million game units sold to date, and following the successful launch of four new Zuma titles this year on several leading mobile and handheld devices, the franchise has never been more in demand,” noted Van Riker, Zuma franchise marketing manager at PopCap.
"The PopCap team has done an amazing job of enhancing the level of challenge, game features and customizations with this latest version of Zuma's Revenge!, which we believe make it a must for Xbox players."

  1. Zuma's Revenge is an awesome game. Everyone should buy it.

That said there's an iPad game that's a bit of a knock off, but I prefer: Namco Bandai's Duck Duck Quack. Check it out :)

  2. I had never played Zuma until my wife had me check it out. She figured I would like it and she was right, but I'll definitely have to see what Duck Duck Quack is all about, even though the title reminds of of that really early PS3 DLC with the rubber ducks and the wind up shark that utilized the title controls of the Six Axis controller. :)
