  • Dungeon Inn - PC (Steam) Review

Dungeon Inn is a cozy strategy management game that has an amusing story. The premise? Sara and her crew end up trifling with a scary dragon who catches them red-handed stealing from him.

Gaming Thoughts... Creation in gaming

Not all gamers dream of building and creating video games, and that's fine - great even. After all, if we all wanted to sit around designing stuff, there wouldn't be nearly as many people actually sitting down to play them. Game editing has been around forever it seems, whether it's just using a specific game's engine to perform building tasks (like Roller Coaster Tycoon or SimCity).

Bioshock Infinite - Xbox 360 Review

I hope you all have a great weekend!

I first played the original Bioshock a several years ago now. It was a game I enjoyed, but never got around to reviewing. I have both numbers one and two for the PlayStation 3 now as well, and keep meaning to go back and replay the first and then play the second and write them up - it just has not happened yet. However, a buddy at work loaned me Bioshock Infinite recently, and having beaten the game and given its mechanics as well as its storyline - in particular the ending - about a week to sink in, I want to talk about it.

Madden 25 cover - Barry is the best

This gave me a grin when I read it. I am a big Madden fan, as most people here know. I also follow the NFL quite closely and am a huge homer, rooting for my Detroit Lions. I have been voting Barry throughout the contest, and he won.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - PlayStation 3 Review

I admit I have been drooling over the prospect of playing a DC fighting game from the studio that brought us the excellent Mortal Kombat reboot a couple of years ago. The idea was interesting - what would happen if Superman became a villain due to tragic loss of his loved ones? It is a dark premise to be sure, but one that is fun to explore.

Soulcalibur V - PlayStation 3 Review

I am a relative newcomer to the Soulcalibur series, which has been around for around a decade. I am a huge fan of fighting games, and the prior game in the series was one of my first titles for the PlayStation 3 when I bought it. That review was also one of my very first posts if you care to read it here. I was a huge fan of Soulcalibur IV and sunk a ton of time into it.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Walmart's Deal

I have been eying Injustice for some time now. I was a huge fan of NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat when it came out a couple of years ago, giving it an 8.5 out of 10 in my review.

Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom - PS3 Review

So until I got Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom as a PlayStation Plus freebie, I had never actually played the game of Mahjong before. The game does try to introduce you to the basic concepts, but I just really did not understand what was going on half the time. Luckily, my wife was sitting in the living room with me and she had played several different versions of Mahjong in the past, so she gave me the rundown and I was off and playing from there.

Guacamelee! - PS3 Review

It is sort of fitting that a game that mashes together several different game ideas into one would name itself based on a food that blends several different ingredients together. It turns out, I am a big fan of both, because Guacamelee! is a challenging, entertaining mix of platforming and adventuring.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - Xbox 360 Review

I do not have an extensive history with the Halo series. The first I had played was Halo: Reach. That title impressed both my son and I enough that we went out and grabbed the rest of the Halo titles that had released. He has played more of them than I have, but I finally sat down and decided to play through the Anniversary edition. I figured since Reach was a prequel, this was the next step in the storyline.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars - PS3 Review

Another quick review for the middle of the week.

What's in a name? In this case, a lot of seemingly random words. Not only did the team try to cram as many syllables as they could into the title of this game, but a bunch of different ideas too. This is a game that flew under my radar when it released, despite the impossibly, needlessly long name. I managed to get it as a PlayStation Plus goodie several months ago though, and I thought I would do a real quick writeup on it.

Ni no Kuni - Wrath of the White Witch - PS3 Review

Enchanting.

That is really the primary adjective I came away with after spending about eighty hours with Level-5's Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for the PlayStation 3.

Tomb Raider - Xbox 360 Review

Tomb Raider has been around for a decade and a half now, and the series has seen a bunch of high and low points over that time. Still, excitement has been building for this latest title, a reboot of the series, for quite some time now. Last year at E3, I came away more excited for this game than anything else I saw there, and I am happy to say I did not come away disappointed.

Bionic Commando - Retro Reflections

I recently posted a review about Bionic Command Rearmed. This was an HD remake (not just a visual glossing over - but with lots of new content) of the Capcom classic Bionic Commando. Apparently this was an arcade title at one time, but my first brush with the series was on my NES.

Bionic Commando Rearmed - Xbox 360 Review

Capcom was without a doubt one of my favorite game companies for years. I loved all things Street Fighter II, but even before that I sunk a ton of time into some of their action platforming titles like Mega Man 2 and Bionic Commando.
